Local sources report that around 600 Taliban fighters from Afghanistan’s southern provinces entered the military corps headquarters of the group in Badakhshan province last night, wearing civilian clothes.
According to the sources, these forces are expected to replace a number of local Taliban personnel in Badakhshan who, according to the claims, have been disarmed or dismissed from their positions in recent weeks.
The sources further allege that the deployment is part of ongoing security changes in Badakhshan and is aimed at disarming and removing more locally recruited Taliban members from positions in the province.
These developments come amid reports in recent weeks of rising tensions, troop movements, and intensified security measures by the Taliban in various parts of Badakhshan province. Local sources have also reported the deployment of additional forces and the strengthening of security arrangements in several areas of the province.
As of the publication of this report, Taliban officials have not commented on these allegations.
