Local sources have told the media that on Thursday, 17th of Sawr, an armed clash occurred in parts of Paryan district in Panjshir province. According to these sources, Taliban forces entered the village of Kujan on Friday, 18th of Sawr, and arrested at least seven people.
Taliban officials have not commented on the clashes or the arrests. Additionally, the identities of those detained have not been officially released.
According to reports from local sources, security tensions in Paryan have been ongoing for several months. Sources say these incidents escalated after a Taliban Ranger vehicle was set on fire in Kujan village on 27th of Qaws 1404 (Afghan calendar).
Local sources report that in Hamal 1405, an attack on a Taliban outpost in Paryan Mosque resulted in the deaths of two Taliban fighters. The same sources also note that the killing of Mullah Gul Haider, the deputy of Taliban intelligence, in Kujan village was another significant event in the area.
Local sources, who asked to remain anonymous for security reasons, say that following these events, Taliban forces arrested a large number of civilians in Kujan village. Reports have also emerged of some detainees being tortured.
According to sources, Taliban intelligence, claiming that the perpetrators of the attacks were hiding in the strategic Samahr Dara area, launched two major operations in the region.
Local sources also said that on the night of 15th of Sawr, a Taliban attack from two directions—including the village of Shahrband and the route into the valley—met with resistance. The attacking forces reportedly suffered three deaths and one injury before retreating.
Currently, the security situation in Paryan district is reported to be highly militarized. Residents have expressed concern over increased arrests, movement restrictions, and rising security tensions.
According to sources, strict movement restrictions have also been imposed in Kujan village, and no one is allowed to leave their homes after evening prayers.
