Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesperson for the Taliban, has announced that based on the decree of the group's leader, Mawlawi Hamdullah Nomani, the former Minister of Communications and Information Technology, has been appointed as the new mayor of Herat province.

In a statement released on Wednesday (May 20nd /30th of Sawr), Mujahid stated that according to the decree of Haibatullah Akhundzada, Mullah Nematullah Hassan, the former mayor of Herat, has been appointed as the technical and professional deputy of the General Directorate of Municipal Affairs Regulation.

Prior to this appointment, in a recent decree by Haibatullah Akhundzada, Mawlawi Hamdullah Nomani was removed from his previous position (Ministry of Communications and Information Technology) and replaced by Mullah Abdul Ahad Fazli, the former governor of Faryab, who was appointed as the new minister of this ministry.

According to sources, following Fazli's appointment, efforts have begun to restrict internet access in Afghanistan, though this matter has not yet been officially confirmed.

Furthermore, he has been accused of usurping a green space belonging to the municipality in Helmand province and is now attempting to build a wall around it.

The Taliban have not yet shown any official reaction regarding these allegations.
