The body of Mohammad Yousuf Toofani, a young physician who drowned and went missing in the Sayad River in Kapisa province approximately two and a half months ago, has finally been recovered.
Local Taliban officials in Kapisa say fishermen found Toofani’s body buried beneath the sand in the Dand-e Naghlu area, located between Tagab district in Kapisa and Surobi district of Kabul.
According to published reports, Mohammad Yousuf Toofani drowned on the third day of Eid al-Adha while swimming in the Sayad River and had remained missing ever since. Reports identified June 9 (Jawza 9) as the date of the incident.
Following the recovery, his body was handed over to his family to be prepared for burial.
