Donald Trump, the President of the United States, announced on Saturday that he had held “very good” talks with several regional leaders regarding the Islamic Republic of Iran and matters related to a peace agreement. He said that most of the agreement had been finalized, and only the final drafting stage remained.
Trump wrote in a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, that he had spoken with Mohammed bin Salman, Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Abdel Fattah el‑Sisi, Abdullah II of Jordan, Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and several other regional leaders about Iran and a peace-related agreement.
The U.S. president emphasized that the memorandum of understanding had largely been negotiated among the United States, the Islamic Republic of Iran, and regional countries, and that only the review and finalization of details remained.
Trump also said that he had a separate phone call with Benjamin Netanyahu, which he also described as “very good.”
He added that the final details of the agreement were under review and would be announced soon. Trump also stressed that, under this agreement, the Strait of Hormuz would be reopened.
Trump has repeatedly said that he would only accept an agreement that includes the issue of uranium enrichment and the fate of Iran’s enriched uranium stockpiles.
Earlier, Esmaeil Baghaei had also announced that Tehran and Washington were in the final stage of talks over a memorandum of understanding aimed at ending tensions.
According to Baghaei, the memorandum includes issues such as the gradual reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, the easing of U.S. restrictions, and the release of Iran’s frozen assets.
He also said that if the memorandum is signed, 30- to 60-day negotiations toward a more comprehensive agreement between the two sides would begin.
