International media have reported that exiled members of Afghanistan’s women’s national cricket team have requested the International Cricket Council (ICC) to recognize them as an official national team.
The players have stated that due to the current situation, they are unable to represent their country in official competitions, and therefore wish to have a team under the ICC’s umbrella.
So far, the ICC has not made an official decision regarding this request, but the issue has become part of international sports discussions.
