The Afghanistan freedom front has claimed that it inflicted heavy casualties on the Taliban during a recent clash in the Zibak district of Badakhshan province.
The front said, Sunday, August 23, in a statement accompanied by a video posted on the social media platform X, that Taliban forces, led by the deputy commander of the Northeast Corps, launched an attack on its positions. However, the Taliban forces encountered resistance from Freedom Front fighters and, following a counterattack, were forced to withdraw from the area.
According to the Freedom Front, a number of Taliban fighters were killed and wounded in the clash, and their bodies and wounded personnel were transferred to the Zibak Clinic and the health center in Baharak district.
The front also claimed that its forces targeted a Taliban cache of small arms in a mortar attack and managed to suppress fire from a Taliban heavy weapon.
The Taliban have so far issued no official response to the Freedom Front’s claims, and independent sources have not confirmed the reported casualties.
