Summary

The Green Trend movement, led by Amrullah Saleh, has announced that the military wing of the organization carried out an operation in Panjshir Province targeting a vehicle belonging to the Taliban. The group claims the operation was conducted in retaliation for the killing of two of its members.

According to a statement published by Green Trend on the social platform X, the operation took place on Monday, May 25. The statement said that the “Green Unit” successfully targeted and completely destroyed a Datsun vehicle carrying Taliban forces while it was heading toward a base in the village of Manjanستو in the Abdullahkhil Valley.

The organization further stated that the vehicle was carrying around 10 Taliban fighters at the time of the attack. Green Trend emphasized that the action was carried out in response to the killing of two of its members.

The statement also added that last year, the Taliban had captured and executed by firing squad two members of the “Green Unit,” identified as Commander Hakimullah Khan and Ahmad Ali, in the same area, and allegedly did not allow them to be buried with dignity.

So far, the Taliban have not officially responded to these claims. However, some local sources told media outlets that an explosion did occur that same evening in the Manjanستو area of Abdullahkhil Valley in Panjshir Province.

The Green Trend movement, which was established during the former Afghan republic by Amrullah Saleh, had previously focused mainly on civil and social activities. Following the Taliban’s return to power, the group has increasingly turned to publishing intelligence information and claiming involvement in military activities.

The organization had earlier also reported military activities and claimed responsibility for attacks in several provinces, including Samangan Province and Ghor Province.
