Sirajuddin Haqqani, the Taliban’s Minister of Interior, visited an area in Chamkani District of Paktia Province that was affected by the recent Pakistani strike. During the visit, he met with the families of the victims and local residents, expressed his condolences, and assured them of continued assistance for those affected.
According to the Taliban, in addition to offering condolences to the bereaved families, Haqqani prayed for the souls of those who were killed and wished the injured a swift recovery. He emphasized that the necessary support and assistance would continue for the families who suffered losses as a result of the attack.
Meanwhile, relatives of the victims stated that all those killed and injured in the strike were civilians. They said that the majority of the casualties were women and children.
Local tribal elders also urged the Taliban to strengthen support for the affected families and to pay particular attention to the treatment of those injured, many of whom remain hospitalized and are still receiving medical care.
