Local sources report the killing of a former military officer in Daykundi province, the discovery of the body of another former army member in Kapisa province, and the arrest of five former soldiers in Panjshir province.
According to the sources, Yasser Hosseini, a graduate of the Military Academy and a former member of the Afghan National Army, was killed on Friday, 29 Jowza, in the Qalan Bazaar of the central district of Shahristan, Daykundi province, by two armed men.
Local sources say that after the collapse of the republican system, Hosseini was working as a shopkeeper and was not involved in any political or military activities. He was the son-in-law of Shirin Mohseni, a former representative of Daykundi province in the House of Representatives.
Shirin Mohseni confirmed the killing of Yasser Hosseini in a post on the social media platform Facebook. Arif Dawari, Mohseni’s husband, is currently serving as district governor (Woleswal) under the Taliban administration in Nawmish district of Daykundi.
So far, the motive and perpetrators of the incident have not been officially identified. However, some local sources have blamed the Taliban for the attack. The Taliban have not yet commented on the matter.
In a separate incident, local sources report the discovery of the body of Hashmatullah Hisari, another former member of the Afghan National Army, in Kapisa province. According to the sources, he had been detained by the Taliban a few days earlier.
Hisari served as a company commander (tolai) in one of the battalions of the 201 Selab Corps and was originally from the village of Abidkhel in Jabal al-Saraj district of Parwan province. Sources say his relatives found his body on Friday at the provincial hospital in Kapisa.
His funeral was held on Friday and he was buried in Parwan province. Some eyewitnesses claim that signs of violence were visible on his body.
Meanwhile, reports also indicate the continued arrest of former military personnel in Panjshir province. Local sources say the Taliban arrested five former soldiers yesterday in the Dara Abdullahkhel area of Dara district in the province.
According to the information provided by sources, Mohammad Sohail, Zaker, Mohammad Saleh, Nasrullah, and Parviz are among those detained. The Taliban have not yet provided any explanation regarding these arrests.
Local sources say the individuals were detained on charges of illegal weapons possession. However, the same sources add that they had previously handed over their weapons to the Taliban and had been engaged in personal work and labor in recent years.
These developments come at a time when the Taliban leader, following the group’s return to power, announced a general amnesty decree and has repeatedly emphasized its implementation. Nevertheless, in recent years, human rights organizations, media outlets, and local sources have reported cases of arrest, disappearance, killing, and discovery of the bodies of former military personnel and employees of the previous government.
