Taliban authorities in Panjshir province say that a Kazakh investor has expressed interest in investing in the province’s emerald mines and is expected to begin operations with an initial investment of US$200,000.
According to the Taliban, the investor also plans to invest in and engage in commercial activities in the precious stones market in Badakhshan, alongside the extraction and trade of emeralds in Panjshir.
Taliban officials believe that this type of foreign investment could contribute to the development of the mining sector, create employment opportunities, and stimulate economic activity. However, no further details have been released regarding the formal launch of the investment or the terms of any agreements.
