In Quetta, the capital of Pakistan’s Balochistan province, a female doctor, Mah Noor Nasser, was the victim of an acid attack that left her injured. According to reports, the incident occurred when an unidentified assailant threw acid on her and fled the scene immediately afterward.
Pakistani police stated that, following the attack, they engaged in an armed encounter with an alleged accomplice of the attacker, who was subsequently killed during an exchange of fire. However, the primary perpetrator managed to escape. Security agencies have launched a full investigation into the incident and initiated efforts to apprehend the fugitive suspect.
Acid attacks against women and girls have long been regarded as a matter of serious concern in the region. Human rights activists argue that such assaults are a dangerous means of intimidating women and restricting their participation in social and professional life.
In response to the incident, women’s rights advocates have strongly condemned the attack and called on authorities to swiftly bring the perpetrators to justice and take stringent measures to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
