Al Jazeera reported that, just one night after the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Lebanon, the Israeli army carried out at least 12 airstrikes on Lebanon.
According to reports, at least five people were killed in the strikes carried out by Israel early this morning (Saturday, 30 Jowza).
This comes despite Israel and Lebanon announcing a ceasefire agreement with each other yesterday.
Prior to the official announcement of the ceasefire, Israel and Hezbollah had launched deadly attacks against one another.
Following rocket fire by Hezbollah forces, four Israeli soldiers were killed, after which Israel’s Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben-Gvir, stated: “All of Lebanon must burn.”
Al Jazeera reported that yesterday Israel carried out 150 airstrikes across various parts of Lebanon, resulting in 15 deaths and around 100 injuries.
The ceasefire took effect in the evening, and Lebanese citizens experienced a relatively calm night.
However, according to reports, Israel resumed its attacks early this morning.
The Lebanese state news agency has confirmed the Israeli strikes and reported five casualties resulting from the attacks.
The escalation between Israel and Hezbollah has also disrupted negotiations over a final agreement between Iran and the United States.
While Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, members of the U.S. negotiating team aimed at continuing talks with Iran, have arrived in Switzerland, there has been no report yet of the Iranian delegation’s travel.
Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has repeatedly warned that an end to the war in Lebanon is part of the framework agreement, and that in order to continue negotiations and reach a final deal, Israeli attacks must stop.
