Tajikistan, Iran, and Afghanistan have agreed to establish a joint transport corridor. The agreement was signed following a meeting of representatives from the three countries in the Iranian city of Mashhad.
According to Tajikistan’s Ministry of Transport, the corridor will facilitate the movement of commercial goods between Tajikistan and Iran via Afghanistan.
Reports indicate that the first trial shipment along the route is scheduled for next month to assess border procedures, customs processes, and transport operations.
To implement the initiative, the three countries have also formed a joint working group to oversee the project’s progress and address any potential challenges.
Officials said the road corridor could eventually be expanded to connect with other Central Asian countries and China, further strengthening regional trade connectivity.
