Kim Jong Un, the leader of North Korea, made no mention of recent messages from U.S. President Donald Trump during a meeting of the Political Bureau of the Workers’ Party of Korea, which was held to review the implementation of policies and programs approved for 2026.
According to North Korean state media, Kim Jong Un emphasized the need for “exceptional responsibility” and “extreme caution” in carrying out major state projects. He also called on officials to redouble their efforts to address existing shortcomings and problems.
The meeting’s official reports made no mention of Trump’s latest efforts to establish communication with the North Korean leader. This comes despite Trump’s earlier statement that he was interested in resuming direct contact and communication with Kim Jong Un.
Kim’s silence regarding Trump’s latest messages comes as Washington has repeatedly expressed its willingness to resume dialogue with Pyongyang. However, the official report on the recent meeting of the ruling party’s Political Bureau did not announce any specific response to Trump’s proposal.
