Mohammad Amin Wakman was one of the prominent and veteran figures of the Afghan Millat Party, with a long record of involvement in Afghanistan’s political, cultural, and literary spheres. Following internal divisions within the Afghan Millat Party, he also assumed leadership of one of the factions that split from the party.
According to published accounts of the party’s history, Wakman led one of the branches of the Afghan Millat Party from 1987 to 1995. He later headed a political movement known as the Afghan Social Democratic Party, a political current that considered itself affiliated with the broader political movement of Afghan Millat.
Alongside his political activities, Wakman was active as a writer, journalist, and cultural figure. He produced numerous writings on the Pashto language, history, literature, and social issues. He also authored a book on social democracy and wrote numerous articles on the subject.
Mahboob Shah Mahboob, a former professor at Kabul University, expressed his sorrow over Wakman’s death and described him as “a nationalist politician.”
Mohammad Amin Wakman was also among the prominent figures of the early history of the Afghan Millat Party. Alongside Ghulam Mohammad Farhad, Qiamuddin Khadim, and Feda Mohammad Feda’i, he was active in the political movement during its formative years.
The Afghan Millat Party was established in 1966 under the leadership of Ghulam Mohammad Farhad. However, the party later split into several factions due to disagreements over its leadership and political direction. Wakman’s political career was likewise closely intertwined with these divisions and with disputes over the party’s identity and leadership.
