A document from the Taliban’s Ministry of Defense shows that, following a proposal by the group’s Defense Minister Mullah Yaqoob Mujahid, Taliban Prime Minister Mullah Hassan Akhund approved a special allowance of 7,000 Afghanis for members of the Special Forces Division Command.
The document states that the duties of the special forces are more sensitive and complex compared to other security forces, and that these troops remain on 24-hour alert during emergency situations. Mullah Yaqoob said that these forces are deployed to provinces for operations and face difficult security conditions.
According to the document, members of the special forces undergo tough training exercises, but their benefits are limited, which could negatively affect recruitment efforts. He had proposed that each soldier receive a 7,000-Afghani special allowance to encourage them and improve their physical readiness.
Prime Minister Mullah Hassan Akhund accepted the proposal and ordered that each soldier be paid 7,000 Afghanis through the budget for the 1405 fiscal year. The document indicates that this decision was approved about ten days ago.
The Taliban have not yet announced the exact number of their special forces personnel.
