Taliban interior minister Sirajuddin Haqqani has inaugurated a 20-bed hospital in Khost city named after his slain brother, Badruddin Haqqani.
The Taliban’s ministry of interior says the hospital was built at a cost of approximately $1 million in the Family area of Khost city and has begun operations under the name “Badr.”
Badruddin Haqqani was a senior commander of the Haqqani network who was killed in a U.S. drone strike in North Waziristan, Pakistan, in 2012.
Speaking at the hospital’s inauguration ceremony, Sirajuddin Haqqani said the establishment of such healthcare facilities is an important step toward the country’s development and reconstruction.
He added that public confidence in healthcare services is increasing, with more people seeking to meet their medical needs within the country through existing healthcare facilities and qualified medical professionals.
Haqqani also emphasized that further efforts are needed to strengthen professional capacity and expertise in order to improve healthcare services.
