Khalid Hanafi, the Minister for the Propagation of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice of the Taliban, stated at a meeting with members of the group’s morality police that the international community has no right to interfere in Afghanistan’s internal affairs. He emphasized that spiritual and moral reform of society is one of the core responsibilities of the ministry, and that the morality officers also play a shared and decisive role in this regard.
On Thursday, 28 Jowza, the Ministry for the Propagation of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice released parts of Hanafi’s speech delivered at a three-day “Reform, Scientific, and Educational Training” seminar for morality officers. The session was held to review the educational, religious, and training programs for these officials.
In his remarks, Hanafi claimed that divisions allegedly created by “enemies of religion” among the Afghan people had been eliminated following the Taliban’s return to power. He further stated that those who, according to him, opposed the group’s unity and cohesion had failed to achieve their objectives.
Referring to the duties of morality officers, the Taliban minister said that promoting religious values in society is part of their religious and official responsibilities. He urged them to carry out their mission with greater responsibility, commitment, and seriousness.
