The Human Rights Activists Alliance, following the release of a video showing the severe beating of two elderly men by Taliban fighters, has stated that these images once again reveal the deeply rooted and systematic nature of the group’s violence.
In a statement published on Monday, 18 May, the organization said that the scenes of attacks on civilians with “sticks, punches, and kicks” by armed individuals demonstrate a level of violence that has crossed moral, legal, and human boundaries.
According to the statement, existing reports and evidence suggest that the incident may be linked to land grabbing, forced displacement, or the creation of an atmosphere of intimidation against civilians.
The Human Rights Activists Alliance emphasized that such behavior has been repeatedly carried out by the Taliban before and constitutes a clear violation of human dignity, citizens’ fundamental rights, and international human rights principles.
The statement further noted that the Taliban’s historical pattern of violence and repression has now gone beyond all limits and could lead to widespread social and security consequences.
The organization also warned that the continuation of such actions would deepen social wounds and create the conditions for greater instability in the future.
This comes as videos of the beating and torture of women and men by Taliban forces had previously circulated on social media. In the latest incidents, videos have emerged showing a young boy and a woman in Kabul being beaten by the Taliban .
