The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has announced that, in response to U.S. strikes on Iran earlier in the morning, it carried out a joint operation involving missiles and drones, targeting 85 U.S. military sites. According to the IRGC, the targets included Salman Port, the headquarters of the U.S. Fifth Fleet in Bahrain, and Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait.
The IRGC also claimed that it had shot down a U.S. MQ-9 drone, alleging that the aircraft had attempted to interfere with the operation.
These claims have not yet been independently verified by U.S. officials or other sources, and no further details have been released regarding the extent of any damage or possible casualties.
Meanwhile, Kuwait’s General Staff of the Armed Forces announced that the country’s air defense systems were responding to hostile missile and drone attacks. The statement added that any explosions heard were the result of air defense systems intercepting hostile targets.
At the same time, warning sirens were activated in Bahrain. The Bahraini Ministry of Interior, in a message posted on the social media platform X, urged citizens to remain calm and proceed to the nearest safe location.
The alerts came after the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters announced that it would deliver a “crushing response” in retaliation for the latest U.S. strikes. As of the time of publication, U.S. officials had not issued an official response to the claims made by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
