The Taliban have allocated 2,000 hectares of land near the Uzbekistan border at the Hairatan border port to establish a special economic zone.
Taliban officials have stated that this economic zone will be used to develop investment projects, promote industrial activities, and strengthen border trade. According to them, the project is being implemented to provide facilities for domestic and foreign investors and to expand commercial relations.
Officials add that the Hairatan port is considered one of Afghanistan’s key trade gateways, and the creation of the special economic zone will play an important role in transit, imports, and exports. So far, no further details have been released regarding the project’s cost, implementation timeline, or investment mechanisms.
