Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs of the Taliban, has approved 16 development projects worth approximately 3.5 billion Afghanis during a regular meeting of the Procurement Commission chaired by him.
The Economic Affairs Office of the Taliban’s Prime Minister’s Office stated that the meeting was held on Wednesday, the 3rd of Saratan (Cancer month), at the Marble Palace.
According to the administration, 40 projects were submitted for approval at the meeting. After review and discussion, 16 projects worth around 3.5 billion Afghanis were approved, amendments were made to 20 other projects, and contracts for two projects were canceled due to non-compliance with procurement procedures.
The Taliban said that the approved projects include the construction of the Qadis Khordak water reservoir dam in Badghis province, geotechnical studies for the Khelegi dam in Baghlan province, completion of the remaining works on a 60-metric-ton cold storage facility in Paktika province, design and installation of 10,000-ton oil storage facilities for the Amu Darya oil basin, construction of a 50-bed hospital in the Char Chino district of Uruzgan province, construction of a terminal in Tarinkot, reconstruction of several roads in Kabul city, and completion of electricity supply and distribution projects in various provinces.
According to the Taliban, the cost of these projects will be financed from their domestic budget.
