Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan welcomed Donald Trump at the airport. According to Turkish media reports, the two leaders are scheduled to hold an initial private bilateral meeting, followed by a joint meeting involving delegations from both countries.

Turkish media have reported that defense industry cooperation will be one of the main topics of discussion between Donald Trump and Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The meetings are expected to last around three hours, with both sides discussing issues of mutual interest.

Following the meetings, Donald Trump will be taken to a hotel where extensive security measures have been put in place. The U.S. president is also scheduled to attend a dinner hosted for NATO leaders on Tuesday evening.

This visit is being described as the first official trip by a U.S. president to Türkiye in seventeen years. According to the schedule released by the White House, Donald Trump will hold a series of intensive diplomatic meetings during his stay in Ankara.

The White House has announced that Donald Trump will also meet with General Dan Caine, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff; Matthew Whitaker, the U.S. Ambassador to NATO; and Tom Barrack, the U.S. Ambassador to Türkiye, during his visit.
