U.S. President Donald Trump has said that Iran is seeking to reach an agreement with the United States, while warning that Washington would respond with far greater force if Tehran carries out any attack.
According to an Axios report, Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One that Iranian officials had contacted him some time ago and expressed their desire to reach an agreement.
He added that the U.S. strikes on Iran on Wednesday were carried out in response to Iranian attacks on commercial vessels, describing the scale of the retaliation as “one to twenty.”
Trump stressed: “We hit them very hard. Every time they attack, we will respond with several times greater force.”
The U.S. president did not provide further details about the prospects of a potential agreement between Washington and Tehran. However, he made these remarks at a time when regional tensions and military confrontation between the two countries continue to persist.
