U.S. President Donald Trump claimed that the United States is on the path toward achieving “a major victory” in Iran, saying that the results would become clear soon.
Al Jazeera reported on Friday, July 17, that Trump said he had rebuilt the U.S. military and transformed it into the most powerful armed force in the world. He also emphasized that the United States is now compelled to use this military capability.
In his remarks, Trump further claimed that the United States had also achieved success in Venezuela. However, he did not provide further details about these claims or clarify what he meant by a “major victory” in Iran.
The comments come as the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced last night that American forces had launched a new wave of strikes against Iran.
Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi had previously described the U.S. attacks as a “clear violation of the United Nations Charter and fundamental principles of international law” and condemned them. The remarks come amid continued tensions between Tehran and Washington.
