Reports indicate that Mohammad Akbar, a former commander of the Alia Darul Muallimeen security post in Dand district of Kandahar during the previous republican government and a close associate of General Abdul Raziq, was shot and injured in an armed attack.
According to sources, he was taken to a hospital following the attack and is currently receiving medical treatment. No official information has so far been released regarding the perpetrators or the motive behind the attack.
In recent weeks, reports of targeted and retaliatory attacks in Kandahar province have increased. However, responsible authorities have yet to issue an official statement regarding the latest incident.
