The meteorological Department of the Taliban-run ministry of Transport and civil aviation on Monday warned of the possibility of heavy rainfall and flash floods in several provinces of Afghanistan.
According to the Meteorological Department, between 10 and 30 millimeters of rainfall is forecast in the provinces of Nuristan, Kunar, Laghman, Nangarhar, and Khost.
The department also said that strong winds accompanied by dust and debris are expected across the northern, western, southern, southeastern, eastern, and central parts of the country, with wind speeds potentially reaching 50 to 90 kilometers per hour.
The Meteorological Department further warned of the possibility of flash floods in vulnerable and low-lying areas and urged residents to stay away from potential flood channels and waterways during periods of rainfall.
Eastern provinces of Afghanistan have previously faced the risk of flooding as a result of heavy rainfall.
