Relatives of Bahruddin Jozjani, a member of the National Islamic Movement led by Marshal Abdul Rashid Dostum, have claimed that he has gone missing after returning to the country at the invitation of the Taliban.
On Sunday, 24 Jowza, his relatives told media outlets that Bahruddin Jozjani had returned to Afghanistan in response to an invitation from the Taliban’s Commission for Contact with Political Figures.
They alleged that Jozjani has been missing since the second day of Eid al-Adha, and that his family has had no information about his whereabouts.
The relatives further claimed that he was detained by Taliban intelligence services and the Haqqani network.
Neither the Taliban nor the National Islamic Movement led by Abdul Rashid Dostum have yet commented on the matter.
This comes as the Taliban have repeatedly invited political leaders and opposition figures abroad to return to the country.
Since the Taliban’s return to power in Afghanistan, despite an announced general amnesty by Taliban leader Mullah Hibatullah Akhundzada, there have been numerous reports of arrests, torture, and killings of former security personnel and civilians by members of the group.
