For the first time, a group of Afghan cultural figures, university professors, civil society activists, and members of the Turkmen community commemorated Turkmen Culture Day in Berlin, Germany.
The event was held on Sunday with the participation of representatives from Afghanistan’s diverse ethnic communities, along with invited guests. According to the organizers, the gathering aimed to showcase the Turkmen cultural heritage, preserve its historical and cultural values, and strengthen peaceful coexistence, mutual understanding, and respect among Afghanistan’s ethnic groups.
Speakers at the event emphasized the significance of Afghanistan’s cultural diversity, describing Turkmen culture as an integral part of the country’s shared cultural heritage. They noted that preserving and promoting this heritage contributes to greater public awareness while fostering national unity and social cohesion.
Participants also discussed the cultural identity of the Turkmen community, its role in shaping social life, and the importance of passing its cultural values and traditions on to future generations.
The event featured various aspects of Turkmen culture, including carpet weaving, traditional handicrafts, folk music, traditional attire, and the long-standing tradition of horse breeding.
Speakers also highlighted the important contributions of the Turkmen community to Afghanistan’s cultural, economic, and social development. They underscored the need to support the education of Turkmen youth, promote their academic advancement, and encourage their active participation in the country’s future development and progress.
