The Argentina national football team staged a dramatic comeback to defeat England 2–1 and reach the FIFA World Cup 2026 final for the second consecutive tournament. England took the lead in the 55th minute through Anthony Gordon, but Argentina turned the match around in the closing stages. Enzo Fernández equalised in the 85th minute with a stunning strike from outside the box, before Lautaro Martínez scored the winning goal in the 90+2nd minute, finishing off a pass from Lionel Messi to secure victory for La Albiceleste.
England’s goal came from a well-worked team move. Harry Kane initiated the attack with a precise pass, Declan Rice cleverly guided the ball into the path of Morgan Rogers, whose cross was converted by Anthony Gordon with a composed finish.
The defending champions recorded another remarkable comeback in this tournament, earning their place in the final with a hard-fought victory.
Argentina will face Spain in the World Cup final on Sunday, while England will take on France in the third-place playoff on Saturday.
