Bahrain’s Ministry of Interior has announced that 41 individuals have been arrested on charges of having ties with Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). The news was reported on Saturday, May 9, by Reuters, citing Bahraini security officials.
According to the report, the arrested individuals were identified by security agencies, and among the charges, “sympathy and support” for Iranian attacks were included in the cases of some of them.
The report states that after the outbreak of clashes between the U.S. and Iran on February 28, several Arab countries, including Bahrain, were targeted by Iranian missile attacks, leading to heightened security measures in the region.
Previously, a court in Bahrain had sentenced two Afghan citizens to prison on charges of cooperating with the IRGC—an issue that has further contributed to security and political tensions in the region.
