Mohammadreza Modoudi, CEO of the Dogharoon Free Zone, announced the finalization of the development document for the region based on the “seventh-generation free zones” model. According to him, Dogharoon’s border location with Afghanistan and its position along the Mashhad–Herat route have turned the area into one of the key trade and transit gateways between the two countries. A significant volume of goods is transported through this route annually.
Modoudi stated that the development plan for the Dogharoon Free Zone focuses on sustainable investment and the expansion of economic activities. He said that increasing saffron exports, establishing a fuel city, launching a mining zone, and constructing a solar farm are among the projects planned for the region.
According to the CEO of the Dogharoon Free Zone, the development of health tourism is another major aspect of the program, with efforts underway to attract Afghan patients seeking medical services.
He emphasized that the success of these projects depends on creating practical facilities for Afghan traders and patients, ensuring transparency in procedures, and providing a suitable platform for economic cooperation between the two countries.
