Hamid Karzai, the former President of Afghanistan, strongly condemned the recent military attacks by Pakistan on Kunar province and the Spin Boldak district of Kandahar. He called on the United Nations to investigate these incidents. He described the attacks as concerning and emphasized the need for immediate attention.
In a message, Karzai stated that these attacks have caused damage to civilians and civilian infrastructure, resulting in casualties. According to him, initial reports indicate that the Asadabad University was also targeted in these attacks.
He added that a number of students were injured as a result of this event. The former President of Afghanistan also reminded that past attacks on schools in other areas have had negative consequences on the education process, depriving Afghan children of the opportunity to continue their studies.
Karzai considered these attacks as part of an effort to undermine Afghanistan’s educational infrastructure and development process, and called on the international community to respond to these actions. He urged the United Nations to take these incidents seriously and condemn them.
The message emphasized that military attacks on the people, land, and national infrastructure of Afghanistan must stop, and that international organizations have the responsibility to pursue this matter. He warned that continued such attacks could seriously harm civilians and the future of education in the country.
Meanwhile, local sources in Kunar told Afghanistan International that the Pakistani army has targeted various areas of Asadabad, the provincial capital, and the Syed Jamaluddin Afghani University with artillery strikes. So far, Pakistani officials have not released any official response on the matter.
