Nigerian authorities have announced that armed individuals attacked a village in Adamawa State, killing at least 29 people. The ISIS group also claimed responsibility for the attack in a statement posted on Telegram.
According to officials and local residents, the armed attackers entered the Gombi area and fired at people for several hours.
Reports also indicate that there was significant property damage and destruction to the belongings of the area’s inhabitants.
Nigerian authorities have stated that they are working to prevent further attacks and restore normalcy to the region.
Adamawa State, in northeastern Nigeria, has repeatedly been targeted in recent years by Boko Haram militants, armed groups, and criminal gangs. This has led to increased insecurity in the rural areas of the state.
