The Iranian Army and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) have announced that, in response to U.S. attacks, they carried out strikes against American military bases in Bahrain, Jordan, and Kuwait.
According to IRIB (Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting), the Iranian Army stated that it targeted U.S. bases and the radar systems of the U.S. Fifth Fleet in Bahrain with “a wave of drone attacks.”
The report further states that the IRGC Aerospace Force also announced it had struck and destroyed “four key targets,” including F-35 fighter jet hangars at a U.S. air base and a command-and-control center of the U.S. military in Al-Azraq, Jordan, using solid-fuel missiles.
IRIB also reported that the IRGC targeted a U.S. base in the Al-Jahra region of Kuwait.
The United States reportedly carried out strikes the previous night following the downing of an Apache helicopter, which Iran was blamed for, against targets inside the country.
The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) stated that “U.S. Central Command forces, using precision munitions from U.S. Air Force and Navy aircraft, attacked Iran’s air defense systems, ground control stations, and surveillance radar sites near the Strait of Hormuz.”
CENTCOM added that the operation was “a proportional response to recent attacks on U.S. forces and international commercial vessels transiting regional waters.”
It further emphasized that the U.S. military is “prepared to defend against Iran’s unprovoked aggression.”
This marks the latest escalation in clashes between Iran and the United States following a ceasefire agreement brokered by Pakistan.
In recent weeks, both sides have repeatedly launched attacks against each other and accused one another of violating the ceasefire.
