Iranian state media reported that Tehran has received an initial and unofficial draft framework of a memorandum of understanding with the United States. Under the proposed agreement, Iran would commit to restoring commercial traffic through the Strait of Hormuz to pre-war conditions within one month.
According to the report, in return for this move, the United States would withdraw its military forces from areas surrounding Iran and lift the naval blockade. It was also stated that coordination regarding the management of shipping routes would be carried out jointly by Iran and Oman.
Iran’s state television said it had obtained an unofficial copy of the draft, but emphasized that the published text is not final and may never lead to a formal agreement.
Meanwhile, the White House rejected the report, calling it “completely fabricated.” U.S. officials stated that the published information about such an understanding is inaccurate.
Olivia Wiles, the White House spokesperson, wrote in a social media post: “As President Trump has stated, negotiations are progressing well, and America’s red lines have been clearly defined.”
She also stressed: “President Trump will only accept an agreement that is good for the American people and ensures that Iran never obtains a nuclear weapon.”
The report released by Iranian state media made no reference to Iran’s nuclear program, which remains one of the main points of dispute between Tehran and Washington.
Despite the publication of the report and the strong reaction from the United States, some analysts view it as a sign of continuing contacts and possible progress in negotiations between the two countries, although both sides still maintain significant differences in their public positions.
