Ali Abdollahi, commander of Iran’s Khatam al-Anbia Central Headquarters, in response to recent remarks by Donald Trump, stated that any approach or entry of foreign armed forces especially the U.S. military into the Strait of Hormuz will face a military response.
According to IRIB (Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting), he also emphasized that all commercial ships and oil tankers must avoid transiting without coordination with the armed forces stationed in the area to ensure their safety is not compromised.
The Khatam al-Anbia commander, referring to the current situation in this waterway, added that the management and security of the Strait of Hormuz are under the control of Iran’s armed forces, and any safe passage is only possible with coordination with these forces.
He further stated that any military action by the U.S. to change the current situation could complicate matters and increase risks for vessels in the region.
Meanwhile, Donald Trump announced that the U.S. will act from today to allow the passage of ships currently halted in the Strait of Hormuz. According to him, these ships belong to countries that are not involved in regional conflicts and are merely affected by the circumstances.
Trump described this initiative as the “Freedom Project” and called it a humanitarian effort by the United States, Middle Eastern countries, and especially Iran.
With the escalation of conflict between the U.S. and Israel on one side and Iran on the other, thousands of ships have been stopped in the Strait of Hormuz, effectively closing this strategic route. Iran has warned that any passage without coordination could provoke a military response.
The continued closure of the Strait of Hormuz, through which about 20 percent of the world’s oil and gas transit occurs, has significantly raised energy prices in global markets and sparked concerns about a potential energy crisis in various countries.
