Local sources have confirmed to media outlets that Taliban forces detained approximately 20 women on Saturday in Herat city near the 64-Meter Road, opposite the Almas Sharq Commercial Complex.
According to the sources, the incident occurred on Saturday, June 6, 2026. Among those detained was a pregnant woman. However, no further details have yet emerged regarding the identities of the detainees, the reasons for their arrest, or the location to which they were taken.
Sources added that the incident has heightened tensions in the area, with a number of residents expressing concern over the continued detention of women in public spaces.
According to the sources, Taliban forces transferred the women to an undisclosed location following their detention. Independent information regarding the condition and whereabouts of those detained remains unavailable.
As of the time of publication, Taliban authorities in Herat had not commented on the report. Kabul Times News stated that it is seeking additional details and attempting to obtain a response from Taliban officials.
The report comes amid recent accounts from local sources indicating increased surveillance and tighter restrictions on women’s presence and dress in several parts of Herat city.
