Reuters, citing four informed sources, has reported that the United Arab Emirates has agreed to release a total of $10 billion for the Islamic Republic of Iran, with more than $3 billion of that amount already disbursed.
According to these sources, the agreement was reached within the framework of an understanding under which Iranian attacks against the United Arab Emirates would be halted.
Meanwhile, two additional sources familiar with the details of the arrangement said the total figure under consideration amounts to $20 billion. These sources also stated that the release of these assets was agreed in exchange for the cessation of attacks by the Islamic Republic of Iran against the UAE.
One of the sources emphasized that the first tranche of the agreement, valued at $3 billion, has already been transferred to the Iranian government.
Reuters noted that this move reflects a tactical shift in Abu Dhabi’s approach following weeks of Iranian attacks on the UAE during the conflict between the United States, Israel, and the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Officials from both the United Arab Emirates and the Islamic Republic of Iran have not yet issued any official response to the report.
