The Taliban’s Ministry of Information and Culture has announced that Kafir Qala, located in the Faranjal area of Siah Gird district in Parwan province, has been officially registered as a historical and archaeological site. The fortress is believed to have been built around 300 BC.

In a statement posted on X on Tuesday, 23 Saratan, the ministry said the Director of Information and Culture for Parwan stated that the fortress was constructed atop a high hill in a strong strategic position. It features several defensive towers, a large entrance gate, and high fortification walls.

According to the official, the fortress was historically used for military and defensive purposes.

The Taliban’s Directorate of Information and Culture also said it would fully implement the decree issued by the Taliban leader on the protection of historical monuments and sites, adding that efforts to restore historical sites in need of preservation would continue.

The directorate also called on Parwan residents to cooperate in the identification, registration, and protection of historical and cultural sites.

Meanwhile, according to local residents, an ancient settlement known as Buda Village is located to the north of Kafir Qala. The site is regarded as one of the most significant remnants of the region’s ancient civilization and cultural heritage.
