Competitions in traditional Zurkhaneh sports and ancient wrestling, held under the name of the “Abdul Wali Aryoubi Cup,” have begun in Kabul.
The Taliban’s General Directorate of the Olympic, Physical Education and Sports has announced that 160 athletes from various age groups including children, adolescents, youth, and adults are participating in the competitions.
According to the organizers, the one-day event is being held across different weight categories, with athletes competing against one another in individual bouts.
At the conclusion of the competitions, 80 of the top-performing athletes are expected to be selected and recognized.
