Kabul Municipality, under Taliban administration, has announced plans to construct a new overpass in the Afghan capital as part of efforts to reduce growing traffic congestion and improve mobility for residents.
According to the municipality, the overpass will be built in the Shaheed Square area of Kabul and is expected to play a significant role in connecting key traffic routes and facilitating smoother vehicle movement across the city.
Officials said the project’s technical and engineering assessments are currently underway, and implementation will begin once these studies are completed. They noted that the overpass is expected to ease traffic congestion in central parts of Kabul and make daily commuting more convenient for residents.
In recent years, Kabul has faced severe traffic challenges due to rapid population growth and an increasing number of vehicles. Residents hope that infrastructure projects of this kind will contribute significantly to improving the city’s traffic conditions.
