Police in Pakistan’s Sindh province announced that they have rescued an 11-year-old girl who had been abducted from Peshawar more than two months ago, during a special operation against kidnappers.
Sindh Police said on Saturday evening that “Haram Saeed” had been kidnapped from Peshawar on March 28 of this year and was later taken to Shikarpur. According to the police, during the operation, one of the leaders of the kidnapping gang, identified as “Abdul Wahid,” was killed, while several other members of the group were injured.
The police added that the girl was safely rescued during the operation and that investigations into the incident are ongoing.
Following the rescue, “Aimal Wali Khan,” the leader of the Awami National Party, said that society must unite against kidnappers and raise its voice for the girls, boys, and young people who are still being held by such groups.
He also called for a full and transparent investigation into the incident and questioned how the girl had been transported from Peshawar to Sindh.
