The Afghanistan Cricket Board has announced that the country’s A cricket team, known as the “Afghan Abdalyans,” will travel to Sri Lanka to participate in a tri-nation One Day tournament hosted by Sri Lanka.
According to a statement from the Cricket Board, alongside Afghanistan, the India A and Sri Lanka A teams will also take part in the competition. The tournament is expected to provide an important opportunity for the development of young and emerging players and help them gain international experience.
Based on the announced schedule, the series will begin on June 9 in the city of Dambulla, Sri Lanka, and will continue until June 21.
In the first stage, each team will play four matches to determine the top teams that will qualify for the final.
The Afghan Abdalyans will play their first match against India A on June 11.
Cricket analysts believe that such tournaments provide valuable opportunities for young Afghan players to showcase their talent and gain more experience on their path toward joining the Afghanistan national team.
