The selection tournament for Afghanistan’s top Muay Thai athletes has concluded in Balkh.

The three-day selection tournament to identify Afghanistan’s top Muay Thai athletes was held at the Ahmadi Sports Complex in Balkh Province, with the participation of 245 athletes from 15 provinces across the country, and concluded successfully.

The purpose of the tournament was to select the country’s best Muay Thai athletes and prepare them for international competitions scheduled to take place in Kabul in the near future.

Athletes from the provinces of Kabul, Balkh, Nimroz, Herat, Bamyan, Faryab, Helmand, Paktia, Paktika, Laghman, Kunduz, Baghlan, Ghor, Samangan, and Daikundi participated in the competition.

According to the results, the Nimroz Muay Thai team secured first place, the Balkh team finished second, the Kabul team took third place, and the Herat team ranked fourth.

The Afghanistan Muay Thai Federation stated that the president of Russia’s WBC Muay Thai Federation, along with several international referees from Uzbekistan, also attended the competition.

At the conclusion of the tournament, 63 outstanding athletes from various weight categories were selected for the Afghanistan national Muay Thai team and earned the opportunity to participate in the upcoming international competitions in Kabul.
