The Taliban’s Ministry of Mines and Petroleum says it has signed a contract worth $776,500 with a domestic company for the extraction of coal from the Shor Taq area in Khwaja Sabz Posh District of Faryab Province.
The ministry announced on Monday, August 24 (Sunbula 2), on the social media platform X that Hedayatullah Badri, the Taliban’s Minister of Mines and Petroleum, signed the contract for the extraction of the Shor Taq coal mine with the head of the Faryab Khatam al-Anbiya Mining and Processing Company.
According to the ministry, the mine covers an area of approximately one square kilometer. In addition to carrying out the extraction work, the contracted company will invest $776,500 in the project. Under the terms of the contract, the company will also pay 1,000 Afghanis in royalties.
Hedayatullah Badri said that the mining project would not only provide social services but also create employment opportunities for a large number of people.
The head of the Faryab Khatam al-Anbiya Mining and Processing Company said the company would carry out the mining operations in a professional and standard-compliant manner, in accordance with the contract, and would seek to make effective use of the mineral resources.
