A spokesperson for the Taliban has stated that Hibatullah Akhundzada, the group’s leader, emphasized the full implementation of the Islamic system, the enforcement of his decrees, and the expansion of religious education during a cabinet meeting held in Kandahar.

According to details released on Saturday by Hamdullah Fitrat, the deputy spokesperson for the Taliban, Akhundzada urged cabinet members to promote religious knowledge among the population and extend religious education to the most remote areas of the country.

The Taliban leader reportedly said during the meeting: “You are now members and pillars of the Islamic system. Teach religious knowledge to your subordinates and the people, and instruct them in the correct creed. Negligence in actions stems from weakness in belief. Convey religious knowledge to the mountains and deserts.”

Informed sources in Kandahar also told Afghanistan International that the meeting was held on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Hibatullah Akhundzada and was attended by the Taliban’s prime minister and several senior officials of the group. According to the sources, 11 different topics were discussed during the session.

Based on published information, Akhundzada emphasized in his remarks the expansion of religious teachings, the implementation of “the promotion of virtue and the prevention of vice,” and greater public awareness of religion and the Islamic system.

He also instructed cabinet members to carefully study the decrees issued and to work toward implementing them among the population. The Taliban leader said ministers should explain the importance of these decrees to the public and fully adhere to them themselves.

Akhundzada further stressed that the strength of the Islamic system depends on reviving religion and expanding religious education within society. He called on ministers to familiarize people with religion, Sharia, and the Islamic system, and to serve as role models through their own conduct and behavior.

The Taliban leader also emphasized oversight by ministers over the performance of their subordinates, stating: “Every era is transient, and we must leave behind principles, regulations, history, and good ethics for future generations.”

The deputy spokesperson for the Taliban stated that the meeting also included discussions on educational, economic, political, administrative, and social issues, and that necessary decisions were made.

However, the Taliban has not yet released further details regarding the decisions taken in the meeting.
