Bilateral trade between Afghanistan and Kazakhstan reached $508.2 million in the first half of 2026, representing a 2.5-fold increase compared with the same period last year.
According to data from Kazakhstan’s State Revenue Committee, the country exported approximately 1.6 million tonnes of goods worth $501.5 million to Afghanistan during the first six months of the year.
During this period, Kazakhstan’s wheat exports to Afghanistan increased 3.7-fold, reaching 511,400 tonnes, while flour exports rose to 687,300 tonnes.
Exports of chickpeas, peas, and lentils increased 4.2-fold, while sugar exports nearly quintupled and corn exports surged 48-fold. Exports of sunflower oil and cottonseed oil also increased 2.8-fold.
In addition to food products, Kazakhstan exported other goods to Afghanistan, including petrol, flat steel products, aluminum cans, and freight vehicles.
Meanwhile, the value of Afghanistan’s exports to Kazakhstan stood at $6.7 million. Afghanistan mainly exported sweetened beverages, fruits and berries, carpets, aluminum utensils, nephrite, talc, and chromite ore to Kazakhstan.
As part of efforts to expand trade between the two countries, agreements worth $235 million were also signed during a business forum held in Kabul in June 2026.
