Donald Trump, President of the United States, has stated that an agreement with Iran has been signed and that the full text of the agreement will be released following the official signing ceremony on Friday.
Trump made these remarks while arriving in the French city of Évian to attend the Group of Seven (G7) summit, speaking to reporters. He said that the Strait of Hormuz has partially reopened and is expected to be fully reopened by Friday.
Speaking alongside French President Emmanuel Macron, he added that it is still unclear whether he will attend the official signing ceremony of the agreement in Geneva on Friday, but that U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance will be present.
Trump said, “The agreement has been fully signed. As you know, the strait is now partially open and will be fully open on Friday.”
Previously, the U.S. Vice President had stated that the agreement was signed digitally on Sunday and that no financial resources have been released so far.
When asked when the text of the memorandum would be published, Trump replied, “Perhaps very soon. After Friday… I think in the very near future.”
The U.S. President also stated that any easing of sanctions on Tehran would depend on Iran’s future actions. According to him, if Iran carries out what it is expected to do, the process of sanction relief will begin.
